Ideal candidates have adequate jawbone density, healthy gums free of periodontal disease, and no uncontrolled systemic conditions such as diabetes or autoimmune disorders. Patients with insufficient bone can often still qualify after a bone grafting procedure to rebuild the jaw to the volume needed for successful placement.

Titanium implants are the gold standard with over 60 years of clinical evidence, offering flexibility for two-piece angled placements. Zirconia implants are metal-free ceramic alternatives that resist bacterial adhesion better and match natural tooth color, but they are typically one-piece systems and cannot be adjusted after placement.

Late implant failure is most commonly caused by peri-implantitis, an inflammatory condition that erodes the bone supporting the implant. Most reputable international clinics offer 2-5 year warranties covering reimplantation of the fixture itself. If failure occurs later, a local implantologist can remove the failed implant, perform bone grafting if needed, and place a replacement.

Bring a recent panoramic X-ray and a CBCT (cone beam CT) scan showing bone height, width, density, and nerve pathways. Also bring a list of current medications, any relevant medical history, and records of previous dental work in the implant area. Send these digitally in advance so the clinic can prepare a preliminary treatment plan before you arrive.

Standard single-tooth implants typically require two trips: the first for implant placement and the second after 3-6 months of osseointegration for the permanent crown. Some clinics offer same-day immediate-load protocols that reduce this to one trip, though this depends on bone quality and is not suitable for every case.
